The welcome talk to Tajikistan students at Zhejiang Polytechnic University of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (ZUME) was successfully held on the afternoon of April 9. Vice President Zhu Runye, Party Secretary of the School of International Education Gao Shuiqin, Deputy Secretary Wang Zibao, Deputy Dean Zhang Weizhong, as well as other faculty members, senior student representatives, and all new Tajikistan students attended the event.

In his welcome speech, Vice President Zhu Runye extended a warm welcome to the 17 new Tajikistan students and reviewed the diplomatic history and cooperation achievements between China and Tajikistan. He highlighted that ZUME, as an important base for training talents in advanced manufacturing in Zhejiang Province, has always adhered to the philosophy of "openness, cooperation, and service." With over 20 on-campus training bases, the university provides high-quality educational resources for international students. He also emphasized the university's remarkable achievements in internationalization, having cultivated many international students who have performed excellently in both academic and cultural activities. He encouraged the new students to be diligent learners, disseminators of Chinese culture, and inheritors of human civilization.
Party Secretary Gao Shuiqin conducted an orientation for the new students, emphasizing the importance of adhering to classroom discipline and dormitory regulations, prohibiting behaviors such as skipping classes and staying out overnight. She encouraged the students to actively communicate with teachers in the classroom, think critically, and ask questions frequently to deepen their understanding of knowledge and enhance their learning outcomes, laying a solid foundation for their future development.

The international student class advisor Li Chaoqun, senior student representative Kong Muyu, and new student representative Kong Wei also took the stage to speak. The advisor conveyed her best wishes to the students, the senior student shared her learning experience, and the new student expressed his anticipation and vision for university life.
During the university badge presentation ceremony, Vice President Zhu Runye pinned the university badge on the new student representatives and took a group photo with them. Deputy Secretary Wang Zibao and Deputy Dean Zhang Weizhong then presented welcome packages to all new students.

The successful hosting of this welcome meeting enriched the diversity of international students at ZUME, injected new vitality into the university’s international development, and enhanced the friendship between China and Tajikistan, further building a broader bridge for cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
