No Distance Can Separate True Friends

To bridge the gap between the 2023 Myanmar international students and the local students of ZIME, and to help them quickly adapt to campus life and understand Chinese culture, the School of International Education successfully hosted a friendship event titled "Gathering at ZIME, Bonding with fellow classmates" on the evening of October 19th in Classroom 306, Building 3. The event was hosted by Huang Quancheng from Class 2182, Internet of Things, with Kang Zuo and Dili from Class 1871, International Students (Spring), serving as translators. The 2023 Myanmar international students and the student assistants of international students participated in this event.

Getting Acquainted Session

At the beginning of the event, each international student and student assistant was given a playing card with a different number. They took turns to go on stage to introduce themselves, which helped everyone get to know each other better. After that, those who drew cards with the same number automatically became partners. Chinese and Myanmar students added each other on WeChat to share their cultures and experiences. This marked the beginning of their transition from being strangers to acquaintances, from being shy to being natural. The seeds of friendship were quietly sown at this moment.

Talent Show

Following the introduction session, students from both China and Myanmar showcased their talents. Hou Siyu from Class 2181, Internet of Things, delivered a heartfelt rendition of the song "I Want You." Huang Yile from Class 2281 of International Trade, performed a self-accompanied song titled "The Meaning of Travel." The Myanmar international students, Sang Wu and Su Wei, presented two songs with rich Myanmar ethnic characteristics: "Dreams of Winter" and "You Are My Moon." Their unique cultural charm and enthusiastic atmosphere captivated everyone present.

Game Session

Then, through interesting games and interactive segments, the host facilitated communication and mutual understanding between the Chinese and Myanmar students in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Gradually, a sense of group consciousness was formed, and the importance of teamwork was realized. The students also gained a deeper understanding of their group members, creating unforgettable memories for each other. The event site was bustling with energy and enthusiasm.

This friendship event not only enabled the international students to make many new friends but also allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and history. Through mutual communication and learning, they not only enhanced their understanding and friendship with each other but also deepened their recognition and respect for different cultures. "This event has helped me make many new friends and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture," said an excited first-year Myanmar international student. "I will cherish this friendship and take these wonderful memories back to Myanmar."
