On April 17, 2021, 8 ACM teams, led by instructors such as Zou Huilai and Zhang Xianle of the School of Modern Information Technology, participated in the 18th "Tucson Future Cup" Zhejiang University Student Program Design Competition hosted by the Zhejiang University Science and Technology Competition Committee. In the design competition, 5 golds and 3 silvers were achieved! The number of gold medals is the first in the province's higher vocational colleges! This is the best result of our school's participation in this competition in the past 15 years!
The programming competition is known as the "Programming Olympics", and it is one of the most difficult, influential, and gold-rich competitions in the major computer majors. Affected by the epidemic, the offline games originally scheduled to be held at Hangzhou Normal University were transferred to online games. This competition attracted more than 400 teams from more than 70 colleges and universities across the province. Among them, there are a total of 136 teams from 31 colleges and vocational schools, and traditional ACM schools in the province have sent the strongest teams to participate. The gold award is set at 8% of all participating teams, and the silver award is 15%. The competition is very fierce. After 5 hours of hard work, 8 teams from our school demonstrated good teamwork spirit and programming skills, all of which won silver medals and above. There are 5 golds out of the 11 gold medals of the specialist team, and the remaining three teams won silver medals. Among them, two teams from our school have entered the top 100 of the 400 teams in all the undergraduate and specialty groups, fully demonstrating the strength and style of the program design team of Zhejiang Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering!

The coaching staff, Zou Huilai and Zhang Xianle, carefully prepared for more than a year. Based on the experience and lessons learned in the past five years, they set up strategies, built platforms, implemented them, and constructed a complete set of competition training that is suitable for the actual situation of the team training and bonding. The two main teachers have overcome many practical difficulties such as no fixed training venue, no stable training question bank management platform, epidemic situation, diversified source of team members, and long-distance between two campuses. They encourage each other and strengthen the original intention of competition: complement each other, promote and help each other. Through the self-built question bank platform every year, they have driven nearly two-fifths of the students in the branch to learn and use the OJ platform to consolidate their programming skills. With the support of the school and the branch, they lead the students who have not had the opportunity to participate in the provincial competition to actively participate in the Blue Bridge Cup, China University Computer Competition-series of events such as team programming ladder competition, icpc competition, ccpc competition, etc., to create a good competition echelon, so that more students can enjoy the fun and professional ability of the competition.

Due to the particularity of online competitions, it is necessary to ensure that the computer room, network, strong electricity, invigilation cameras, printers, and other hardware equipment are foolproof. This competition has received strong support from the school, branch leaders, and various management departments, laying a good foundation for the final results.
