On August 30th, the 2020 Zhejiang "Challenge Cup" College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition finals came to a successful conclusion. The participating team of Zhejiang Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering won 1 special prize, 3 first prizes, 6 second prizes, and 2 third prizes. In the meanwhile, the school won the "Excellent Organization Award". This time, our school made a major breakthrough in this competition, for the first time, winning the first prize and above, and hitting a new record in the number of awards. It is reported that the special prize works will also be eligible for the national competition.
The Youth League Committee of the school began preparations at the end of last year. In March of this year, the “Small Pick” intramural selection contest was launched. The departments actively formed teams to participate. A total of 421 entries were received. The number of participating students reached 2,232 and the number of instructors reached 171. Through the three rounds of preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and finals, 13 excellent works were selected to participate in the provincial competition, of which 12 works won the third prize and above.
The school attaches great importance to it and has repeatedly instructed the Youth League Committee to prepare for the competition. Vice President Zhou Chunjiang personally participated in the project guidance, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Zhou Zengkui visited the Ningbo competition site to condolences the competition team. During the preparation period, the Youth League Committee of the school organized various projects for intensive training, polishing and improvement. The secondary colleges, project instructors and participating students went all out to continuously improve the quality of their works, and finally achieved excellent results.
The "Challenge Cup" series of competitions is known as the "Olympic" event for Chinese college students' technological innovation and entrepreneurship. It is currently the most popular national competition for college students in China. It is also the most representative, authoritative, exemplary, and oriented nationwide college student competition.This college student entrepreneurship plan competition is sponsored by the Communist Youth League of Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, Zhejiang Academy of Social Sciences, Zhejiang Science and Technology Association, Zhejiang Student Federation, and jointly organized by Ningbo University and the People's Government of Jiangbei District of Ningbo City.
A total of more than 150,000 young students participated in the competition, 30,851 works participated in the school competition, and 1,155 works from 108 schools entered the provincial competition. In the end, a total of 36 works from 20 universities (including undergraduates and higher vocational schools) won the special prizes. 118 works from 49 colleges and universities (including undergraduate and higher vocational colleges) won the first prize.
No challenge, no youth. In the next stage, the school’s Youth League Committee will deepen quality education, continue to improve the service system of college students’ science and technology innovation education, work hard to promote the cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial talents, and cultivate more outstanding students with innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. In order to promote the school’s full implementation of the "double high" plan, the school will actively strive to create a pilot school for undergraduate vocational education and contribute to the strength of youth.
